BROSTRÖM Tankers AB’s Rail Hub Milano (RHM) provides supply chains with multiple opportunities: swap-body, trailers, deep-sea containers, euro pallet-wide containers, tank containers, bulk cargo and general cargo.
From the end of February 2015:
IFB, the well- known Belgian based multi-transport operator initiated a 3 x weekly round trip from/to the heartland of German industry in Duisburg
GTS, a leading domestic Italian multi-transport operator initiated a further international connection with 3 x weekly round trips to Rotterdam. This adds to the existing Rotterdam services, enabling RHM to act as a main hub for a total of 20 round trip connections to Rotterdam: the heaviest single concentration in Italy.
With frequency improvements to the various new connections expected, as traffic builds up on these segments, and even more trans-European destinations to be developed shortly, Sebastiano Grasso, Vice President responsible for the Group`s Logistics and Intermodal solutions, that include the intermodal hub operations, comments: ”...These are welcome additions to Rail Hub Milano activities, and we are hungry for more, as the hub is being developed for increasing possibilities. Rail Hub Milano can offer 260,000 sqm of yard, 7 internal rail tracks (4 of which are 750 m length) and and 12 external rail tracks for shunting operations from 300 up to 600 m length.
Melzo facilities includes: 8,000 sqm of Bonded & National Warehouses and 1,540 sqm of Maintenance & Repair workshops.
RHM Yard Equipment includes 11 Reach Stacker (for full containers) plus 3 for empties.
