The increase in weekly rotations will allow more flexibility and more efficient connections for Short Sea trades with the UK
Hannibal intermodal transport offer is growing, increasing the frequency of its service on the Melzo-Rotterdam route: starting from June 10, 2024, daily round-trip services between Italy and Northern Europe will be operated, directly connecting the RHM - Rail Hub Milano with the Rotterdam Botlek C.ro terminal. Trains will depart from the terminals daily from Monday to Saturday, bringing the weekly rotations from 5 to 6.
The increased frequency of the service will provide more flexible connections and solutions to Hannibal's customers, meeting the growing demand along one of Europe's most economically important corridors. Rotterdam-Botlek offers strategic connections to and from the UK and Ireland, facilitating direct embarkations for maritime services without the need for truck transfers between the rail terminal and the embarkation/disembarkation in the marine terminal.
The service is available for containers (Tank, 20‘, 23’, 25', 30’, 40‘, 45’) and semi-trailers with a P400 profile. The increase in circulations will take the equivalent of 240 trucks per week off the road, approximately 11,500 per year, with emissions savings compared to an all-road of more than 50%.
"Our customers rely on Hannibal's intermodal solutions to move their volumes in an increasingly efficient and flexible way, and the direct Melzo-Rotterdam Botlek service confirms our high standards in terms of reliability and punctuality, taking advantage of the domestic and international connectivity of RHM (Rail Hub Milano)" commented Andrea Spagnuolo, Sales & Business Development Manager of Contship Italia.
