Nuovi arrivi al CICT!

With the arrival of the 8,000 TEU m/v Tempanos on May 16, Cagliari International Container Terminal (CICT) rounds up the sequence of five maiden calls linked to the so-called “Chilean Rivers” series.

Having welcomed the debuts of m/v Tolten and the m/v Tucapel in March, April saw the arrival of the m/v Teno on the 11th, followed a fortnight later by m/v Torrente on the 26th. All of the five are sister ships deployed in the IOS service, connecting Sardinia to North Europe and the Indian sub-continent through weekly northbound and southbound calls.

Just a few days earlier, on May 14, m/v Oakland Express (4,890 TEU in nominal capacity) was moored alongside the CICT berth. The maiden call marked her phase-in into one of the three strings connecting Cagliari to the American continent – on this occasion the Mediterranean Pacific Service (MPS) – replacing smaller unit m/v Manila Express. Phase in and phase out operations were successfully completed by CICT gangs who handled part of the containers in live connection between the two ships.

In the photo-collage Captains Kazimierz M. Laciak (m/v Teno), Zbigniew Golaszewski (m/v Torrente), Wu Yuqi (m/v Oakland Express) and chief officer Vinter Semen (m/v Tempanos) being presented with the traditional crest – a memento for the ships’ maiden calls at Cagliari. The CICT team was represented by Christian Marras, Alessandro Floris, Emanuele Zucca and Maurizio Defrassu who took care of giving the guests a very warm welcome.
