This ship was named after the Chilean river in the Araucania Region, meaning “meeting place of different waters" in Mapuche language.
The m/v Tolten was welcomed at Cagliari International Container Terminal on March 21st.
With her 8,000 TEUs capacity she is deployed in the joint Indian Ocean Service (IOS), a long-established service connecting Cagliari with the Indian sub-continent and north Europe via two weekly calls, both westbound and eastbound.
Tradition was respected at CICT as chief officer Varun Marian Pinto was presented with the customized crest by terminal planner Andrea Pontis, a memento of the m/v Tolten’s maiden call. As planned, the ship sailed next day on schedule.
