LSCT opens its doors to the community: an orientation event was organized in collaboration with CARITAS and ANTEAS for a group of young African refugees
Tuesday, January 8th, Consthip’s La Spezia Container Terminal hosted the orientation event “Open Learning Environment” funded by the Minister of Education, Universities and Research and by CPIA – Provincial Center for Adult Training. Twenty-four asylum seekers from seven different regions of the African continent visited the terminal.
The aim of the event was to offer the group an opportunity for integration and professional growth, showcasing the importance of specialist training and interpersonal skills for a successful working life.
The group had the chance to discover the maritime vocation of the La Spezia region and the history of the port thanks to the aid of Fabrizio Bugliani (Port Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea). After a brief presentation of the Contship Group and the logistics system in which the Group operates, held by Alessandro Placa (Contship Italia Marketing Dept.), Nicola Benacci (HR Dept. of La Spezia Container Terminal) underlined the importance of soft skills on the job, encouraging the members to invest their time to constantly hone them while also undertaking technical training.
After the short presentation the visit shifted to the port and the quay, where the group was taken on a tour of the terminal accompanied by Ester Savi and Laura Cinelli (LSCT). The tour gave the newcomers the possibility to closely observe terminal activities.
BROSTRÖM Italia whishes the best to the young members of the group, for a positive future based on employment and integration. Full support also goes to the hosts for the effort and the interest in the cause.
It is also thanks to these initiatives that Contship has the chance to open it terminals to local communities, supporting formation and education activities. To know more about the action, visit www.portolab.it .
