A La Spezia il primo scalo della Tayma, una nave da 13.300 TEU

Upsizing in customer networks continue with the arrival of the m/v Tayma November 27th at the pilot station, shortly thereafter proceeding to berth, the latest in a series of string capacity upgrades calling at La Spezia.

Part of a series of ULCCs named after some of the oldest settlements in the Middle East – Tayma takes its name from a settlement founded in north western Saudi Arabia in 3,000 BC – the A-13 class ship is deployed by United Arab Shipping Company SAG (UASC) in the Asia – Med trade.

This takes the number of 13,000 – 14,000 TEUs ships deployed on a weekly basis calling at LSCT, La Spezia to more than 30 of these giants in total – with more expected in 2016.

Davide Romanengo, Operations Director, comments... “For and on behalf of the LSCT operations team, I offer a warm welcome to this latest ULCC. This call represents further evidence of the results of the large-scale investment in the terminal, as the number of larger ships continues to increase. In moving forward, we now see a substantial improvement in overall performance levels: ships are now arriving on time, enabling the terminal to organize itself to achieve higher end productivity levels on a consistent basis. The Tayma, like other string calls in recent months arrived and departed on time. On this particular call, the terminal achieved a respectable 83 moves per hour. All of these factors support the achievement of a win-win: TOTAL SUPPLY CHAIN SATISFACTION.”

In photo, LSCT planning team members Stefano Colombani and Andrea Gatti presented Captain Mikhail Puchik and Chief Officer Hesham Anwar Hussein Madkour with the customized crest, a memento of the ship’s maiden call at La Spezia.
