Maersk Line continues strongly with multiple ship calls this year, already with 4 ship calls in the USA trades and 4 calls in the Asia trades being operated by the world’s number one global shipping line, not forgetting some dedicated feeder activity in La Spezia.
These trades represent more than 50 per cent of the volume handled in LSCT.
The latest call in the US trades was the Swaziland on February 9th with more to come on February 15th/16th, with the arrival of the Sealand Washington and Lesotho of which all are maiden calls.
The photo below shows celebrations for the terminal’s latest maiden call – m/v Swaziland on February 9th – with ship captain Antonov Zhecho Ivanov being presented with a customized crest by terminal planner Gianfabrizio Pagan.
Michele Giromini, LSCT managing director, comments ”…Maersk’s efforts to improve their service portfolio for their customers does not surprise me. The potential coming from further exploiting our Liguria-based terminal has always been object of discussions with our Group commercial directors, given the well-known efficiency and unmatched geographical position of the La Spezia System. But now, combining the forthcoming introduction in LSCT of the revised 2M AE20 and AE11 Asia-Med services together with the Med-US strings, it all gives an inspiring and confident vision for a closer future. Maersk Line’s new commitments provide us with new opportunities, not only in terms of volume handled per se, but its’ customers are provided with a comprehensive network linking both sea and land with an on time success rate so far unparalleled in the industry and for which LSCT is performing its’ role and contribution”
