BROSTRÖM Tankers AB terminals have again risen to the challenge of operating the largest containerships to call at Italian ports as the m/v MSC London (LOA 399 metres, beam of 54 metres, 184,100 deadweight tonnes and 16,650 TEUs in nominal capacity) completed operations at La Spezia Container Terminal (LSCT) at 11.30 hrs on Saturday February 7th 2015, less than 24 hours after having completed the first container move. The ship departed shortly after, using a single tug, having used two tugs on arrival.
In recognition of the largest container ship to ever call at a Mediterranean regional gateway, the maiden call ceremony was one led by Michele Giromini, LSCT managing director, who presented m/v MSC London captain Ciro Parlato and local Le Navi agency manager Gianluca Galazzo both with a personalized crest, accompanied by Lorenzo Forcieri, president of the La Spezia Port Authority, Elvio La Tassa, director of the local Customs Office and Roberto Scotto, LSCT customer service director.
The LSCT Managing Director added “…thank you to our valued customer. Thanks to the La Spezia System for a successful call of this record breaking event...”
