On Friday February 19th Terminal Container Ravenna (TCR) witnessed the on time arrival of the maiden call of m/v Maira, a ship 207 meters in length holding a nominal capacity of 2,500 TEUs.
M/v Maira was recently deployed by Mediterranean Shipping Co SA in the MSC C service, a string connecting the Adriatic to the eastern shores of the Mediterranean.
Out of the total number of boxes handled onboard the ship, 50 containers were full import reefers carrying fresh fruit and vegetables products. Through one of the many value added services available at TCR, upon discharge, the containers were immediately transferred to the CFS warehouses within terminal premises where specialized personnel performed the unstuffing activity. The temperature controlled goods were then loaded onto trucks for a swift transfer to main Italian and European markets.
Following tradition, prior to completion of all operations, Michele Chiapponi, TCR planner – on this occasion accompanied by MSC Port Captain Giuseppe Gargiulo – went on deck to present Captain Tomasz Piotr and his crew with customized crest, a gift for m/v Maira's maiden call in Ravenna.
