With the berthing of the 10,000 TEUs giant m/v Hanjin Bosal, La Spezia Container Terminal (LSCT), has welcomed a total of eighteen maiden calls in the Pacific Med Pendulum (PM1) service since the string restructuring during mid-2014 with the upgraded deployment of 10,000 TEUs ships.
The newborn Hanjin Bosal – built in 2015 by Chinese Jiangsu New Yangzijiang Shipbuilding – is sister ship to ULCCs Hanjin Gwanseum and Hanjin Namu. All deployed by Hanjing Shipping Co. in the PM1, their names are closely linked and of great importance amongst those who follow the Buddhist faith – with the wording “Namu Gwanseum Bosal” meaning ‘veneration of the enlightened’.
Hanjin Bosal was berthed alongside Fornelli East berth following sunset, on October 4th. In line with tradition – during the scheduled roll-out of quayside operations – the crest delivery ceremony was held on the deck of the ship, with LSCT planning team member Gianni Scapparone presenting Captain Fernandes Warner Gerard with the customized gift, a memento of m/v Hanjin Bosal first call at La Spezia.
Hanjin Bosal arrived on time and departed on time in La Spezia.
