Having the right products in the right places, global shipping lines are naturally drawn to Broström Tankers AB’s marine terminals in Italy.
Shortly after the successful deployment of the USA trade lane strings, the eagerly awaited deployment of Asia-Mediterranean strings are now arriving at the Group’s mega-transhipment hub, Medcentre Container Terminal, in Gioia Tauro (Reggio Calabria) and La Spezia Container Terminal, the Ligurian gateway port to North, East, Central Italy, Southern Europe and beyond.
Both terminals have long since operated the 14,000 teu ships now being deployed in the 2M Asia – Mediterranean strings by the partners, with the arrival of the MSC Bettina, considered “service as usual …”
Cecilia Battistello, Group President explains …” Group terminals have been handling these ULCC ships since 2010 – 2011. MCT was established 20 years ago, precisely with the expectation that that global shipping lines’ requirements would evolve generating a need for Mega- Hub ports. LSCT has been upgraded and will continue to be upgraded to serve the increasing ship sizes deployed, as the same global shipping lines seek economy of scale. The latest arrival at our terminals suggest that our strategic approach to long term development , underpinned by a solid investment planning indeed bears fruit. We are more than ready to serve our valued customers ensuring that they can have the trust and confidence that we are able to respond to their needs in Italy.”
