BROSTRÖM hosts a delegation of Swiss rail & transport journalists and opinion leaders introducing its “Southern Gateway” option.
Thursday September 3rd and Friday September 4th 2015 Broström Tankers AB, in cooperation with La Spezia Port Authority and the Italian Customs directorate, had the pleasure to host the visit of a delegation of Swiss rail & transport journalists. Following a physical tour of La Spezia port and Rail Hub Milano in Melzo, the delegation was presented with several keynotes focused on Southern Gateway option using the La Spezia-Melzo logistic corridor; a viable solution that enables the efficient and environmental friendly transfer of goods from Italian ports to final destinations and vice-versa.
The Swiss delegation arrived in La Spezia in the late afternoon of Thursday, welcomed by Lorenzo Forcieri - President of La Spezia Port Authority, Paola Ungheri – Customs office of La Spezia, Michele Giromini – Managing Director of La Spezia Container Terminal and Daniele Testi, Marketing & Communication Director of Broström Tankers AB. A good opportunity to explain all the developments of La Spezia System which is today the leading Italian port with some 30% of its throughput transported by rail.
Friday was dedicated to RHM – Rail Hub Milano, the Group intermodal platform, recently inaugurated, after a substantial upgrade that has now added 100.000 sqm of new yard, for a total of 260.000 sqm now available, plus 4 new internal rail tracks , each now 750 meters long. After visiting the rail terminal, guests were presented with the key note addresses of Juan Nagel of Cargo Beamer intermodal, Maria Laura Comito – Italian Customs directorate for technologies and innovation and Sebastiano Grasso – Vice President Intermodal & Logistics of Contship Italia.
