Restoration of rail services is recorded for Medcenter Container Terminal (MCT) on February 25th – a return to earlier times, when train services featured more regularly.
Domenico Bagala, Managing Director, recalls: “The terminal has always been rail connected. During the early days, there were weekly connections to and from a number of Italian locations, with rail activity peaking at 93,400 TEUs in 2006. Today is regarded as the first step in extending MCT’s hinterland to serve South Italy markets, that can be provided with reliable connections to global markets, as our valued global shipping line customers link MCT with over 140 ports worldwide.”
With a comprehensive North Europe, Mediterranean, Greek, Levant, Black Sea network long since established, the new global east-west networks are establishing themselves in Gioia Tauro, ensuring that supply chain needs are provided with reliable and frequent service both on land and sea.
