Named after one of Chile’s finest wine regions – located half way down the narrow Andean strip – m/v Malleco made her flavorsome debut in CICT as she berthed the Sardinian transhipment hub Wednesday August 5th.
Along with her 6,589 TEUs in capacity and 306 metres in length, this Post Panamax ship – largest in the service fleet alongside sister ship m/v Maule – is operated by Hapag Lloyd AG and is deployed in the Indian Ocean service (IOS), a string linking the Indian sub-continent to the Middle East, the Mediterranean and northern Europe.
Likewise for all maiden calls in Cagliari, a customized crest was presented to the crew – in the persons of Captain Jacek Wesserling and first officer Kovtun Jevgenij – by CICT planning coordinator Stefano Dessì. M/v Malleco was cleared for departure in the early hours of August 6th.
