Maiden calls continue at LSCT, this time on Australia Express, one of the longest network strings connecting the Northern Hemisphere with the Southern Hemisphere.
On the evening of Wednesday October 7th La Spezia Container Terminal (LSCT) welcomed its second maiden call of the month – virtually a third maiden call as a new season commences – as the m/v DS Republic was berthed alongside Fornelli West quay. A 6,500 TEUs ship in the Post-Panamax plus class, the m/v DS Republic is deployed in one of the longest network strings connecting the Northern Hemisphere with the Southern Hemisphere requiring a 91 days round voyage time.
Operations onboard lasted less than 12 hours, with m/v DS Republic being cleared for departure at dawn the next day. Prior to departure, a “midnight” celebration was held on deck the ship as Ukrainian chief officer Sergiy Aramyants was presented the traditional customized crest by Simone Affini of the LSCT planning department, a memento for m/v DS Republic’s maiden call in La Spezia.
