November 4th 2015: La Spezia Container Terminal, the Group’s regional gateway to North Italy, with an extended reach to Southern Europe has achieved its 1,000,000 TEUs handled in 2015.
At 13.00 hrs. November 4th, the terminal reached this milestone, more than a month earlier, compared to 2014 and previous years: 2015 has truly been a year of many achievements!
Witnessed by an internal live and on-line monitoring application, available to all its employees, the record is captured as the one o’clock working shift passes into the next and then quickly followed by an update within minutes, another 4 TEUs handled is registered.
Comments Michele Giromini: “This event usually happens around Christmas time, a time for celebration for all of the family. A time for reflection; being several weeks in advance compared to previous years, this time it has passed almost unnoticed, until I heard from one of the reception staff. 2015 has been a momentous period for the terminal, the team. The shareholders have entrusted us all with a substantial investment commitment of € 200 million. Every one of the LSCT team is a custodian of this investment.
