CICT recently welcomed the maiden call of the m/v Budapest Express, a ship operated by the German carrier Hapag Lloyd AG, deployed in the G6 alliance AZX.
On July 30th, Cagliari International Container Terminal (CICT) – Contship Italia Sardinian Transhipment Hub – welcomed the maiden call of the m/v Budapest Express, a ship operated by the German carrier Hapag Lloyd AG, deployed in the G6 alliance AZX (Asia Suez Express) service, a string connecting South East Asia, the Middle East, the Mediterranean and the eastern coast of the United States.
With a nominal capacity of 8,750 TEUs and an L.O.A. of 335 metres, m/v Budapest Express is the first ship that will be gradually upgraded, following a program aimed at increasing the average ship up to around 8,100 TEUs.
Following tradition, the crest ceremony for the ship’s maiden call at Cagliari was held aboard m/v Budapest Express, while operations were proceeding as scheduled. Christian Marras – CICT vessel planner – hosted the event on the bridge as he presented captain Rafal Brzdak with the customized crest.
M/v Budapest Express completed operations in the early hours of July 31st, continuing along the westbound leg of her journey.
