As part of the constant pursuit to find new solutions aimed at improving further the efficiency of container handling, the goal being shared benefit with the customer, CICT – Cagliari International Container Terminal – has now chosen Panasonic ToughPad with its Rugged tablet, picked as the best solution following a scrupulous market research.
The selection process assessed all of the environmental and performance factors in the production cycle of the terminal. All yard vehicles/equipment present in the operating cycle for loading/unloading or assigned to House Keeping activities are equipped with a Tablet. With yard technology evolving exponentially over the years, the Contship group is paying progressively more and more attention towards technological innovations which make yard operations easier to manage.
After six months of research, the product was identified and in February this year CICT began replacing tablets on all pieces of equipment and providing ship Checkers, Reefer and Gate workers with the brand-new device.
On the occasion of Panasonic’s venue INNOVATION FORUM and in light of the success of the project and tests carried out on the Panasonic tablet, project manager CICT’s IT manager Alessandro Barrocu was invited to illustrate all the work done and propose new ideas on how to improve their products in the context of the Terminal/Port market.
